Trail Veil

The Problem

People like us who enjoy outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping often end up in situations where privacy is unavailable. This is particularly challenging for women, as we have to remove more gear and expose ourselves on all sides just to go pee (thanks anatomy).
Every year during early and late ice, this problem frustrates me the most. When the ice is so thin that I'm only comfortable bringing a bucket with one rod and some jigs, I can't afford to carry the weight of an ice shack to pee in. I have just enough modesty that I'm not dropping my drawers in front of a bunch of men.
Unfortunately, this means I have to choose a less productive fishing spot (close to trees or restrooms), avoid anything to drink for hours before the trip (dehydration sucks on long walks out), or miss the action until the ice is more optimal. If you love ice fishing as much as I do, you'll understand how painful these options are.
In addition to ice fishing, I've had to give up amazing fishing spots out on open water, walk hundreds of yards to get away from other campers and hikers, and miss out on shooting opportunities while hunting - all due to needing a moment of privacy.
I've been stalking the market for years waiting for a solution for this. I've tried portable pop-up enclosures, 'standing' urinary devices, and other products, but they always end up being too bulky, inconvenient, or create new problems (like peeing all over myself and my gear...).
We need something a lot better than what's currently on the market. Something compact, lightweight, and wearable that can get us the privacy we need FAST.

The Solution

The Trail Veil is a wearable, deployable privacy enclosure system in the form of a zippered belt. The belt has an integrated storage compartment that, when unzipped, deploys a privacy enclosure around the your lower body. Stakes attached to the bottom of the enclosure allow you to secure the material around you however you need to based on the terrain and your privacy needs. When finished, you roll the material back into the storage compartment and zip it closed.
The Trail Veil is patent pending and in the process of being manufactured. The actual product will be much more fabulous, but here are some examples of the concept:

What Makes It Different

The Trail Veil is no ordinary privacy tent. The waterproof enclosure material is durable enough to withstand sharp thorn bushes, freezing conditions, and the numerous other rugged aspects of nature you encounter, yet versatile enough to be thrown in the wash at the end of the day.
The enclosure stakes are removable and can connect at various attachment points along the bottom of the material so you have sufficient coverage regardless of terrain, weather, and wind factors. The unique anchoring system also ensures you can quickly utilize any level of coverage you need for your situation. For example, in a heavily crowded ice fishing spot you might elect to deploy 360-degree coverage to prevent blind spots, whereas in a spot with only one other fisherman you could deploy 180-degree coverage and face away from the person.
The anchoring system is designed so that different anchors can be attached to the enclosure regardless of where you are or what you're doing. For example, magnets may be the best anchoring system for watercraft, clips may be best in thick forests, and weights may be best in snowy conditions. You can also store the belt around your waist, chest, or other gear, which is much easier than trying to find space in your pack or carrying something separately.
No other privacy solutions currently exist that can afford us with this level of flexibility and convenience. The Trail Veil has been specifically designed to ensure that our success in the outdoors isn't limited by privacy needs, regardless of our choice of adventure.
